Assignment 4: Choices

Sedaris choices were guided by what he saw, heard and the thought processes that were going through his mind and the people he interacted with on his entire itinerary. His choice of words and the syntax make him a very effective communicator as he relates everyday life.

When he shares his political views he not only gives us a clue of the time he wrote the article, but paints a picture of the people during that time after elections. His choice of words are intended to provoke the reader and initiate a dialogue with the author which is the intention of any good writer.
